I recieved a call maybe 4 months ago from my wonderful cousin who announced she was getting married and wanted me to be the photographer. Color me excited! I could not wait. I went to lunch with her and some of our family and she told me all about her soon to be husband- Hunter. He was a marine, super gorgeous and the nicest guy anyone could ever meet. She was in love and glowing from it. It made me happy just seeing her so happy.

We decided to do bridal portraits because their schedule is so chaotic. They both lived in North Carolina and since he was a Marine..well he worked tons! So we just scratched the engagement and did a bridal shoot. And Allie was stunning.

Did I mention she's a ballroom dancer? She's so tall and graceful and beautiful. I cannot express how beautiful she truly is--inside and out. She has modeling experience and rocked it for the camera!

Allie's wedding was just yesterday and I'm still buzzing from all the excitement from it. I can't wait to share the photos but in the meantime look at these photos of my wonerful, beautiful, graceful and funny cousin!

Arcadian Flashback

Sometimes I forget to blog. Ok, I admit it! Mainly because I think hey no one reads it anyway but that is not the way to think! So I'm trying to catch up with blogging by posting semi old pictures! But at least this time you'll get to read the lovely story that accompanies them.
Ok so my husband, Matt, the dear man that he is...is to talented. No really. Oh Matt play that song for me on the guitar? Sure no prob! Wait...the drums too? No prob! The tuba? No prob! So not only is he a computer genius make that a music genius too! Feel all the jealously ooze out of me. Shame on me.
His band is named Arcadian Flashback. Where the name comes from, only the drummer knows, so you might have to ask him. They are a Christian rock band and are pretty amazing! I know all his band mates personally are they are my friends as well as his, so this shoot was just a fun time! We wandered around downtown Suffolk and found some cool things! Enjoy!

Engagement-- Alicia && Carlo

When I first met Alicia I knew I would love her. Why? Because two days prior to our meeting she emailed me and let me know she so lovingly put as 'stalked' my website and saw my section on things I love which included Harry Potter and Gilmore Girls. Which she also loves. So needless to say when Alicia and I talked I felt like we had known each other for years!
The engagement shoot was stunning..I would say perfect but I like the word stunning so much better! The love that Alicia and Carlo have is storybook. The way he looks at her adoringly, the way he laughs as she sings random songs at completely random times.
Alicia is an office worker who loves books and tv shows and fashion, just check the photos! The girls got major style! Carlo is a cook at a restaurant who loveslovesloves cooking. They work so well together and I cannot wait to capture their wedding in May. And here's to hoping Carlo will teach me how to cook..and I'm sure Matt will agree!

Matt and I often talk about how our future kids will be.
I always say well I want a girl with blonde hair and blue eyes, and yes that is me, but I was super cute as a kid. Why not?
I also want any of my kids to be Matt. Meaning to be just like him. Because he is the nicest, sweetest, loving and caring guy I've ever met, so if my kids are like him then what can go wrong?
He then proceeds to tell me, no I want them like you. Me? Why me? I'm loud, in your face, always sleepy and feisty. No Heather, he says, your smart, beautiful, creative and loving. Our kids should be like you. Love!!!
Needless to say our kids will be blessed and hopefully have a mixture of both of us.The one thing we agree on is creativity. I'm a photographer, so I feel creativity ooze out of my bones. Matt is a genius at music. Guitar, Drums, Bass, Piano, Tuba..anything. Jealous? Of course! So we both got that creativity bone kickin in us.
Perhaps we'll have a girl that rocks the camera and the tuba. Or maybe a boy who adores science (which we both are awful attt!) No matter what, we will love them!!!!

Have you heard of her? If not I suggest you are crazy. She's Jasmine Star, a OC based wedding photographer and I drool over everything she does. No, literally. She is what I called my crem da la crem of the photographer I want to be. I stalk her blog every day. Yes, my day does get better when I see a new blog post! And I love it.
Right now she is doing a five day course for free, live! And I am soaking up every second. I am learning so much and I lovelovelove it.
She's talking today about branding yourself. I'm learning to put more of myself out there. Because all my prospective clients need to know who I am. What I love.

Jello?

If you know anything about you know I am addicted to the show 'The Office'. So it should come to no surprise that on one of my co-workers last day, I surprised him with an Office gift! He loves the Office just as much as I do and naturally he's the only one who truly understood the joke! Needless to say, it was fun to make so I am going to show you how I made it. So enjoy!

Things you will need!:

Jello. I only used two boxes. It depends on the object you want in the jello or the size of the container. I would not recommend red though! It came out way to dark! Green or Blue will prob. be your best bet.

A random object! I used a calculator because it was only a dollar and they used this on the show, but you can use anything I supposed. They also used a stapler on the show as well.

A bowl. I have no idea what size this bowl is. But it fit two packets of jello in it comfortably!

Now just follow the instructions to making the jello.
I had a ledge in my bowl that I could shove the calc on but I suggest using other things to make sure the object you want in the jello will stay put otherwise it will float!
Just pop it in the fridge and let it harden and your done!
Now I presented the gift to my co worker will the jello still in the bowl but on the show Jim put it on a plate like he could eat it.
I forgot to take a picture of the finished product but I asked my co worker to take some photos of it. He put it on the plate.

In other related news since other people know of my love for the Office, another one of my co-workers picked up an Office game just for me. It's just a trivia game but Matt and I have loved playing it randomly! So cute packaging too :-)

Itunes Mix Monday!/Tuesdayissh

Whoops...so much for me being so on top of my blog! In my defense I was busy yesterday and totally forgot to do a mix but there should be no excuses! I will do better, promise!

It's weird how what I listen to changes so often. I gave you a kick back, mellow mix last week and I was truly listening to exactly those songs. This week is a complete turn around. I am listening to heavy stuff or heavy to me. Like Emery, Underoath, Anberlin, Paramore and so on. This mix may not be for everyone, some may only like laid back music. But what I listen to changes so often! Next week I'll prob go on an Indie spree, we shall see.
I've learned that this mix is perfect to listening to when your super angry. Not saying that's why I've been listening to this for awhile! But whenever I am in a horrible mood I blast a loud screaming song and three minutes later..my mood is gone.

Personal// Itunes Mix Monday

Starting a new post for every Monday, entitled Itunes Mix Monday.
Yes this may seem random and absurd but I love music. We have this thing going on, I hid it from Matt as well.
Every Monday I will post a playlist which I make up from my Itunes library. The playlist will consist of the music which I'm listening to alot or my mood. I hope you all enjoy this section of the blog and hopefully you'll learn more about what type of music I enjoy and maybe you'll find some new music you enjoy!

Today's Imix is entitled 'kickin it' because it's the music I listen to when I'm in my relaxy mood. It's pretty much what I listen to alot. My pandora station is built off this style of music. I wanted to make a imix of straight up Colbie Caillat because I heart her to death. She is probably my second fave of all, but I decided to throw a random mix in. So listen to these when your driving around, sitting at home and just relaxing!

FAQ- Albums

I get asked a lot, how do I put together my albums for my clients. I primarily use Shutterfly.com because of the price. I don't want to go quite insane on prices for my clients yet. Although Shutterfly is a good price they produce beautiful albums. I haven't had a complaint yet!
After my clients select their images they want in their album, I arrange them in chron. order. I make sure my clients are heavily involved in this process. I know photographers generally just design the album and be done with it. But I am not Jasmine Star quite yet so I want to make sure my client is happy even before they see the album in person.
They can preview the album online and tell me if any changes need to be made. Shutterfly offers a various amount of templates for their albums and they are super easy to put together! I generally do with the 'classic black' template and use the manually put together the album.
Overall it is super easy to use! I do plan on upgrading soon though so the albums can be just a tad fancier!

So I met the president last weekend. He was super nice and very well dressed. He offered me a complete tour of Washington D.C and of course I said yes!
...Just kidding. I wish I met the president and it would have been grand to get a complete tour of D.C. Matt and I went last weekend for three days for a vacation. We had a pretty good time.
On our first day we went to the Smithsonian Museum of History. We spent pretty much all day there because wow! Those museums are insanely huge! We did see a little bit of the Natural History museum but I had been to that one a couple years ago so I didn't feel a need for a repeat.
The next day we went to the Air & Space Museum which Matt was excited about for sure. It was so crowded. So many travelers. There were tons of people from Europe and Asia mostly. We stayed for a little bit but like I said it was way too crowded so we decided to leave early and headed to Pentagon Mall because I heard amazing reviews about it.
That was a bust though. I did love the mall but most of the stores were uber upscale. I did enjoy window shopping though! The main reason we went to the mall was to look for a bookstore because I read my book that I brought with me. And no bookstore! A huge mall and no bookstore equals a sad HeatherK.
We rode back on the metro and right by our metro station was a Borders. Yay! So whilst I was browsing my eyes stopped across a certain book and I gasped loudly. So loudly the lady next to me chuckled and asked if I found what I looking for.

I was not expecting the second of this trio to come out so early, so of course I bought it because I just could not do it!

The next day we met up with my grandma and my two cousins who live in Maryland and we visited the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial and the Capital. On our way to lunch we had to walk a bit which was about five miles I want to say. And it was insanely hot that day. I sweated like never before but it was a great time spending time with them. After that we headed home and proceeded to watch Interview with the Vampire because Matt had never seen it and he loved it!
It was a great trip and I LOVE traveling. Matt even said we should travel more. Yay!

Tattered and Torn Pages

Has anyone seen the new Harry Potter trailer? Can you say EPIC? I cannot wait until November! As soon as I saw the trailer I immediately wanted to read the Deathly Hallows again...for the fifth time. I'm bracing myself though and waiting until October to read it again, that way I am 100% ready for the movie. Oh and in case you were wondering, I will be attending the midnight showing. I'd be a fool not too!
After typing all this I realize how much of a geek I must sound but I can't deny who I am. It also makes me realize I need to buy a whole new set of the Harry Potter series.
I'll take you back to a time, let's say six years ago. I woke up on Christmas morning on the crisp age of fifteen or fourteen, i.e I have a horrible memory. But anyway I walked into the living room and saw the first three Harry Potter books under the Christmas Tree and I was so excited! Needless to say after six years of those books and in addition in later years of the others they have received the HeatherK. badge of getting the living snot beat out of them.
I looked at them on my bookshelf and they are torn up. No really, my brother's beagle got ahold of the seventh one and there is a huge chunk of the front cover missing. The other books binding are torn, so many dog eared pages, and etc. It is time for a new, pristine set.
I once heard a quote, it went something like this. 'Show me a man's library where the books are all in pristine condition, no torn or dog eared pages and I will tell you the man has not absorbed the books into him, he has not fully read them. But show me a man's library where the books are torn, the binding wearing and the pages dog eared and there is a man who truly reads.'
That is me. I read my books so much they look awful, but it gives them character. I absorb them into my mind and take them in completely. So I will buy a new set of HP novels but I'll keep the old ones because they show something, something special.

It's an office birthday!

Matt's birthday was Saturday and boy did we celebrate it in style. Not really, he just played a show. But music is love! I surprised him with a special cake which i baked myself!(No fires or injuries occurred whilst I was baking said cake) I did an Office cake. Why you may ask? Well because it is the best show...ever.
It's the one show we can watch over and over and over and never seem to get tired of it. I knew very well that no one would understand the meaning of this cake, because one would only get it by watching the show steadily
So! Before you even look at the two photos of the cake, and say hey that is stupid please watch The Lecture Circuit Part one and two of the Office season five.

Ha I wanted an image from the actual episode, but I did put a picture of Jim holding the tiny balloons that Dwight made in his card to give him a hint. I did use balloons but had to settle for black and gold, very depressing indeed.
But this picture is pretty nifty though!

And here is the cake. I did put 'it is your birthday' on the cake because I was not about to make a banner and you can see I had to settle for a piece of reg gum instead of the chic let. Matt loved it though!

Also, in no way related, Glee is back on. Let me take this time out by saying how much I adore Glee. I love love love it! I watch every episode and even have a playlist on my Ipod dedicated to the fab show. I love everything about it, but I love my Miss Rachel Berry the most. Most would find her rash and irritating but I adore her. I also adore Rachel + Finn. Writers please...make it work with them for more than two episodes! and I will admit I do love....Rachel + Puck. It just seems right, the bad boy loving the weird good girl.

I saw this bad boy in Walmart. Matt found me reading it and I asked if I could get it. He said 'of course'. At least my man understands the love for my shows! Please excuse the price tag still intact on the book...whoops!

Spring time is here

Spring time has arrived! Well sort of. My state suddenly decided to automatically switch from winter to summer. No spring! Well at least not this week. It has been in the 90's all week. And the pollen is quite insane, but never the less spring is here!
Spring just gives me this feeling. I feel alive during spring, it's when photo sessions are truly alive because all of the flowers and trees have bloomed once more.
The colors are amazing and nothing is better than rolling down all your car windows and just driving...just to drive.

So here's my homage to spring. Thank you for waking me up, for making me feel alive and inspired once more.

Williams Wedding

It was a beautiful spring day. I arrived to Demetrie's house. She was frantic but glowing. It was her day. The day she had been waiting for all her life. Her and her bridesmaids got ready with smiles, cracking open a bottle of champagne and laughing. Her daughter loved smiling at my camera, every time my camera landed on her a smile erupted. I love when kids love the camera!
It was a happy day. The reception was beautiful. Dancing streamed throughout the entire night, as well as smiles. Demetrie and Jon couldn't stop smiling at each other. Marrying your best friend is the best.
To Demetrie and Jon, everything about your wedding was wonderful. You two are truly an amazing couple. May God bless your marriage in ways I can't describe. Thank you for letting me apart of the wedding, it was an honor.

My mind is a scary place, at least so I have been told. None the less,I am about to unveil to you the most random things about me. These have no relevance in my photography, it's just something that will help you know yours truly better.
Al right so I'll start, these are in no particular order or are they interesting, but I hope you enjoy and learn a little about me!

1. I am obsessed with reading. I have been ever since I was little. My rule for myself is to carry a book in my purse at all times, because I read in the weirdest places!

2. My favorite snack of the moment is fruit roll ups. Don't ask me why, it is what it is.

3. The Office is the best show ever. I can watch and I have episodes over and over.
The weird thing is when I first caught a glimpse of the Office, I hated it but a little while later my husband, Matt started watching it and made me. Now we are ridiculous with it, always watching it, quoting it, and even quizzing each other on it. Yes, I am aware we are complete dorks.

4. I love makeup. I don't wear it as well as I want to due to my current day job, but I love watching makeup videos on youtube and experimenting.

5. Buying planners and notebooks is sort of my thing. I buy planners, never using them as well as notebooks. I get so excited when I buy them, thinking I am going to fill them up with so much cool stuff. Yeah...never happens.

6. I love cleaning but loathe doing the dishes or cleaning the kitchen.

7. Ok so this is not a fact about me..well sort of. I am going to introduce you to Matt, my dear husband. You will need to know him if you want to know me :-). We dated for 3 years and got married in October 2008. He is a musical man, playing in a christian rock band and our church's praise band. He is also a computer genius. He built my computer by hand, putting in each part. He is super cute and great! The end.

8. I love learning new things , anything at all.

9. Matt and I get addicted to shows for a while. Currently it is this amazing show called Film Riot. It's a internet tv show that we watch through this software, I think? called Boxee. Please check it out. Now Matt knows the in and outs of all this comp stuff, but Boxee is basically a program you can run through your computer, it holds all your movies,shows- ones you own and ones that are running new episode where it streams in Hulu....anyway! We have a system unit (tower) hooked up to our main tv and that's our tv. We use Boxee for it. We don't have cable, we use that.

10. Oh yeah...that was random. Fact number 10. I am completely and utterly random.

11. Back to Film Riot. It's a show that follows Ryan, an aspiring film-maker through the making of his first film I guess you could say. But you don't see much of that, instead he teaches you all these cool effects like blowing a persons head off, tele porting, car crash and so on. He uses skits with mainly his younger brother and it is hilarious! I can not get tired of there jokes! Go check it out!

12. I am a high strung person. I am stressed a lot, very focused and tense. But I can still be super fun! That's good...right?

13. I am also a huge geek. I have obsessions with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Harry Potter. It is dorky.

14. I think I have OCD. I think?

15. I love sunny warm days where I can open all my windows and let the cool air in.

16. I still have a day job. I am trying to start my own business but until I get a pretty steady clientale I work at Chickfila where I do just about everything,lol. As a manager there, I can work in any area of the store, but I do enjoy it!

ok..I've ran out. In conclusion, you will learn I am a pretty boring person. I hope this will enlighten you more about me and hopefully it will keep you coming to this page!

This morning on my way to work I decided to listen to a podcast instead of my loud, blaring music. Which mind you, I leave my place at 445 A.M, so what a huge task for me to listen to a podcast that early! But it's weird, I am perfectly fine with the ride in to work but later in the afternoon on the way home, I have to slap myself to stay awake!
So yeah...I was in my car listening to a Jasmine Star interview on the lens flare 35 podcast, and it was amazing. Just hearing what all she had to say blew my mind. She talked about pouring herself to the world, which by the way, scary thing to do, on the web. It's been the main source of her business actually, the blog and I hope to do the same.
I know I always complain about not knowing how to reel people in to read this blog, but maybe I'm worrying about that to much. I should just blog about me and my photographs of course and just let it flow.
Maybe.

Today was a day of work, cleaning and editing photos. And I am dead tired as I type this, but I am glad I did! Blogging is so essential.

So world...some facts you need to know about me? Random, aimless, useless info?
I will tell everything under the sun tomorrow so stayed tuned...because this is a radio show, turn up your speakers; please?? :-)

There's something in the air. I can feel it. Not so much the cold and windy air I've been feeling for the past three months. It feels as winter will never feel. Anyway, I feel something,you know, in the air. It's hope. It seems I am getting more insanely obsessed with my career than ever.
It's going to happen and soon. I just feel it. I'm pouring in everything I have for this year. Strive harder than I ever have because it will work. Someone told me today that they were 'Just chasing a dream.' Without thinking my immediate response was, 'Dreams can become reality.'

And that is exactly how I feel. I dream about my career. So much so I know I can accomplish it. It is tangible, all I need to do it put my blood and sweat. Ok I don't know why I said blood and sweat but whenever I read books they are always saying that to emphasis how much hard work someone puts into something.
I'm sure I will put my blood and sweat into though, ha.
This year I will be facing a series of colossal mountains.
I will climb my way up them all.
Because in the end the reward is a dream I've been 'chasing' for years.
My future.

So...........

I went to my first Fundamentals of Design class on Tuesday.
Guys..this class is dreaded be everyone and when I say everyone I mean EVERYONE! I have known people to quit TCC due to this class. Ugh, I was fine up until the teacher said expect to have 6-10 hours a week worth of homework to do. Boy oh boy I can't wait. I just hope juggling work, this class and Eng 112 and photography will work for me this year.

I can do it.
I can do it.
I can do it.

Maybe if I type it enough, it will eventually come true, right?

Here's to hoping college will be over for me one day, one day soon!

2010...hoping for something!!

Well dear readers...if any I am making one of my new year resolutions to blog more. Just just an update frequently..I am talking about blogging fever. Even though my subject will be photography, I am sure everyone will love my life outside of it, even if it is not that grand.

I am beginning a new semester of school today. I wish I could just be a full time student and not worry about working and etc...but alas maybe it will happen some day. I can only go to school half time but I still enjoy it none the less. I am taking English 112 and Fundamentals of Design.

I hope to be amazing in these classes and recieve A's. I will keep you posted.

As for photography I have two booked clients so far. For the first time ever!, someone found me through a wedding photo website and I am ecstatic about it! Her wedding is in March. I feel the more I put myself out there the more clients I will receive.

In my Eng 112 online class our first assignment was to post something about ourselves, after reading various students I read someone who was getting married in September, so naturally I shot her an email and suggested she check out my work.

I'm still waiting for an email back

Whears- Wedding

The ship bobbed slowly up and down as I climbed aboard the American Rover sail ship. It was beautiful. I was so nervous/ excited I could barely keep it together. The ceremony was stunning, I was stuck in a small corner due to the smallness of the boat and the bride and groom wanting me not not move alot. I was perfectly happy with anything they wanted, after all it was their day, and it was a beautiful day.
The rain hit at 8 p.m well into the reception. But no one seemed angry about it, the bride simply said, 'They are drops of love'. Their day was perfect. It so many ways I see Steve and Shellie like two lost puzzle pieces who wandered so long where their adjoining piece was, and they both found it. They fit perfectly.

I met Steve in church awhile back. He is a great guy and I knew he would find an amazing woman. Shellie entered in Steve's life and the rest is history. He has two boys, she has two girls, all around the same age. How perfect is that? Steve and Shellie have an amazing love, I loved photographing them for their engagement pictures. They were a couple that I didn't have to pose, they already knew what came naturally to them...and the kids...well I love shooting kids, so in the end the photos turned out pretty amazing if you ask me.
We headed down to Norfolk Botanical Gardens and the scenery is awesome. Here are a few faves from the day.

Last Saturday I photographed my second mother's wedding. Well she's pretty much that, I've known her for seven years, her daughter and I are best friends.
The weather was gorgeous and the wedding was beautiful. It was very simple, and quaint. I had an awesome time photographing them!

Last week I photographed one of my oldest friends. We have known each other since we were born and our moms were best friends when they were in high school.
We went down near my old house to alot of waterfront homes with beautiful views. I found these places whilst riding my bike! Lucky find!
We ended the session in downtown portsmouth, we both had a lot of fun and I loved shooting her!

Oh and I have successfully lost 12 pounds in two months! Yay!

Last Sunday, the weather was amazingly gorgeous! So my plan was to shoot Matt's band, Arcadian Flashback. So far they are the only band I have shot. I plan to shoot more, I'm just using them for building up, lol. Well they are releasing there first EP and a photoshoot was in store. Only one problem, one band member went to another state for the weekend! Probably the worst weekend ever, because the weather was amazing! But alas, I took the remaining boys out and shot them just to get a feel of what they and I wanted and I love the shots!

The previous weekend, In my fine state in which I call home was 69 degrees outside, which is pretty nice for February! I enjoyed the weather immensely, doing a photo shoot with Daniel. It seems to be all I can do these days. I want more work, but I feel like I don't have the appropriate gear to do it with, but I still want to do all the work I can. It's a confusing situation, really.

There are certain days I wake up and I want to feel the cold air on my skin just to be reminded how lucky I truly am, even if I don't think I am.
Today I opened all my windows...slightly, I mean it is still February, and I opened my blinds to let all sun shine in. I drove to walmart and bought some Tulips and placed them in my living room. I've decided I love fresh flowers, they make me feel happy and light. And they have a calming sense for me, it's weird I know.
I cleaned the entire apartment, also that calms to to. A clean house, means a happy Heather...if only the office was clean. Guess Matt will work on that..one day, hopefully, probably never.

And because I decided to post pictures with every post...Here are my beautiful flowers!

Yay for new shoots! I ventured out with my husband to Williamsburg and he told me he would pose for me for some shots so the first five or so are for him. He looks so pensive in all of them!
The second half are of My photography partner in crime, Daniel. We took a ferry and wandered around downtown Norfolk. Oh and did I mention it was freezing? Outside shoots are never a good thing in the winter, to Cold!

College Woes/Personal

College sometimes sucks. I mean I am only taking one class this semester, why hate it? Bit somehow when I take a photography class, sure I LOVE it, but I am always scared out of mind the entire time I am in that class. There are so many photographers that go to my school, that are 10 times better than me, oh and they know it, that it scares me. I want to be better. i want to be the best, honestly. All I can do is try.
I'm working on a project for History Of Photography, and we have to stand up and talk about a photographer and show his works and yada yada yada, oh did I mention I am a horrible public speaker? I guess we all have to live and learn!
Pray for me as I venture up the long walk of shame to the podium and do my project, my shaking hands and stuttering voice will be enough, I'm sure.

Ok..so I've been trying to do a major change to both my site and my blog and boy! It has been crazy. I'm still not happy with the site yet, but I just keep remembering professionals do other photographers sites all the time and here I am doing my own...so that makes me feel better, a little.
In other news, last night the weatherman here in Va announced it was going to snow like crazy today, so both Matt and I went to sleep last night expecting and hoping that when we woke up a white blanket would cover our parking lot. I woke up at 6, to find no snow! Alas, my whole mood was ruined. Not to mention they canceled all schools, even though it didn't snow! Oh Va, you make me laugh!

I just picked up a new dvd yesterday, you know because somebody just had to pack away the pounds during the holidays...meaning me.
I picked up this one

This is the hardest workout dvd I have ever done, and I've done alot of them. I am sweating insanely, probably buckets, every time I do it
and oh did I mention I'm only on level one of the dvd!
I am scared to see what the next levels are,
but I am writing to say thank you Jillian,
I know every morning when I wake up and my legs are burning intensely, at least it means I'm doing something right!

A new artist sings my lullaby, her name is Taylor Swift and I relate to her songs. To love struck to parents I feel it %100. It inspired me to pick up my guitar once more. I love that feeling picking up an instrument that you haven't played in awhile. My fingers already feel like callouses are coming and the simple strum sounds so melodic to me.
Looking back through all my old songs and poems I've realized I have some talent, this year I'm hoping to pursue that more. Being married to a musical genius, well not genius, but you get the picture, husband, I'm sure that will push me farther.

Next weekend I have a photoshoot planned, thank God. I need some work, anyone want photos? They're awesome, I sware it!

Update on, photos. The holidays just ended, which means I can finally have a chance to breath again. Work was so stressful, I pulled 89 hours I think in two weeks. Since my whole life was pretty much work during the holidays, my photos lacked. but here's a few recent ones to keep you going ;-)

Here I am, writing one hour before a whole new year begins. A whole new year with new memories and fun and sad experiences and chances to be made.
I plan to start this year with a whole new list of resolutions and actually keep them. I want to change alot about myself, psychically and mentally.

I plan on making a difference next year, a big one.

The dreaded scale

After seeing photos from M and I's Christmas Party last night, I knew it was time. Time to lose weight. A couple months ago I went on a diet craze, it worked, I lost 20 pounds...only to stop exercising and gain it all back again ( I blame the holidays) But I am cracking my whip this time.
I want to lose............are you ready? It's a HUGE number................70 pounds
I believe I can do it. I am a determined person!
How will I do this?
Here's some easy ways.......

I watch alot of tv shows, whilst sitting on the couch, so I plan to do crunches, pilates, something while watching these shows. And I watch alot of shows, so that will be about 4 hours a week for just that.

I did Pilates for awhile because I had to have a gym class for school. It really worked, it helped shape my body and make it leaner, so I'm starting that again.

I'm also a big fan of Billy Blanks tae bo. It makes me sweat like a mother, which I love because I know it's working. It's a good cardio workout.

I also love dance arobics. It's fun and it burns alot of cals.

I used to use this online site, which is also a mag called Self, it lets you put in what excerise you do each day, what you eat each day and tell you how many calories you burned. it's pretty awesome. I'm going to use it again...which means writing down exactly what I eat..everyday. Hard stuff. but I will do it.

I am going to start eating breakfast, it is the most important meal of the day. at least fruit or something.

cut out snacks. I'm a big snackie, so that'lll def. have to stop.

oh and limit myself to one soda a day and drink water.
that one is really hard.....I've tried it before. But water will also help my skin so it's a win win

take more vitamins too

I'll add more later, but make this a testiment, on december 14, my vow starts now!

City of Bones

Book Review Time!

I just finished City of Bones, Book One of Three. I pretty much only read books that have at least a sequel. I mean I don't ever get enough from just one book! Ha!
Anyway.....I thought I would start blogging about my books I have read, in hopes of A. People actually reading this blog and B. My memory is pretty much horrible, so I will forgot about this book altogether one day, so why not write about it!

So........
15 year old ( I don't know why have of the books have to have main characters that are 15-17. I mean why not 20-22? That's still young adults, people!)
back to my point, Clary Fray one night with a friend discovers a murder scene which she witnesses, only problem is only she can see the murderers. They are Shadowhunters, killers of demons, and only people with their blood can see them in their true form, which is if you look on the cover, a tattoo thing of runes all over their body.
I won't go into much deatail about the book, mainly because I don't want to give to much away, but I do enjoy it. It has lagging moments but overall good!

Tonight, I ventured out and saw Twilight. I read it when it first came out, I was hooked. Dispite it being for the younger adult crowd, I could n't get enough. Maybe it's because I love vampires?? I don't know
Anyway, the movie was so so. I didn't hate it but I didnt love it either. It had a lot of montage scenes and perhaps the weirdest soundtrack ever, but it stayed true to the book.
I do enjoy the relationship between Edward and Bella, it is love. :-)
There were, oh I don't know a billion gushing 11 to 13 year old girls just giggling and laughing and even when we were leaving the theater a group of young girls were screaming and jumping up and down.
I think they might be more obsessed than I am. ha.
Regardless, I do not feel as if I wasted my money, i overall enjoyed it. So go see it :-)

Addiction dies hard

Ok so there's this show. This show I adore. I believe I am addicted to this show, really bad. I think I really do have a problem. LOl, anyway it is Gilmore Girls.
Even though the show has ended my love for it has still not died. I love the way they talk, look and etc. I often find myself talking like them!

Anyways, I went to wal-mart tonight and got the 7th season, for $15!!!!! Hello, bargain!!!

When I was around 8, I remember moving into a new house on a new street. My little brother and I didn't know anyone in that neighborhood, so we were loners for awhile, Until we met this freckly- faced boy named James that lived right across the street.
James was my brother's age, so of course, they became best friends. We all would hang out outside when we were younger ( we weren't internet or video games addicts quite yet) and invent new games to play. We basically grew up together.
I had the pleasure of taking James's senior pictures Sunday, he's growing up fast! Next thing you know, I'll be taking my little brother's senior pictures!

A couple nights ago I saw these guys live.

Their band's name is Anberlin and they've been around for awhile, never receiving the amount of media and attention they deserve.
But when i saw them I didn't think that, because the crowd was so loud singing all of there songs.
It was exhilarating, because I lovelovelove attending shows. I love the rush and excitement from it. I love to move around and I feel like I am apart of something amazing.

So I like music, right??
lol

This list down below is my favorite 5 bands and my favorite album from them, hopefully these 5 will be my favorite 5 in two years from now, I listen to new stuff all the time so my music changes ALOT.

MAE

Mae is probably my favorite band. I love Mae because no matter my mood, one of their songs gives me exactly what I need. They can be very rock and then switch to slow with amazing keyboarding and they do it so well.
They are also progressive rock, which I gush over. i love albums that tell a story. That make you listen to the lyrics intensely.
This is my favorite album by them because it is so beautifully written. Half of my wedding piano songs were on this album.

EMERY

My husband got me into Emery, and Ive been hooked ever since.
They probably have the deepest lyrics I have ever heard. A lot of it is dark but the vocals are amazing. There are two lead singers in this band and they harmonize so well together. The band has a lot of streaming in it, which I generally don't like but they pull it off so well that you have to listen to them. I also love that these boys are southern from South Carlonia, but when you hear them sing you never be able to tell. Im telling you right now you have to hear this band theyre so amazing, the melodys are just...wow. I cannot explain. Listen to them!

JIMMY EAT WORLD

I think alot of people have heard of this band, they have made so many amazing albums, its hard not to hear them on the radio.
I love their indieness about them and their style. Their sounds are tight as well as their lyrics!

SHERWOOD

They are a fairly new band with only two albums but i am addicted to them. They are my spring fix. They have catchy melodies and their energy on stage is amazing. They are low key and I love that about them. Their music makes me want to dance :-)

Honeymoon Day 1 & 2

on our first day of the honeymoon we stayed at a hotel in virginia beach and woke up to the beautiful sun shining on us from the beach. We walked on the beach but the it was windy as anything so we didnt stay long. After that we went to eat breakfast at panera bread and then we ventured to norfolk botanical gardens. I took so many awesome pictures there but you'll have to wait till I get home so I can edit them.
We took flight to Orlando around 6 something and arrived at 8. we just settled in for the night.

Today we went to Unverisal Studios for the day. The weather was amazing and the park wasnt even that crowded! There were a LOAD of foreigners there from everywhere. ireland, russia, britain, mexica, germany. We rode Twister, Disaster, Men in Black, the simpsons ride and the Mummy which was our fave. And we watched a couple of shows too.

Tomorrow we plan on going to Islands of Adventures and catching a movie later that night

we are having a great time as newlyweds. were both so happy to be married to one another and the bliss will not end anytime soon!

So here it is practically two days away from the big day and I'm nervous, excited but beyond all I'm stressed.
So much to do, so little time to do it.
Will I find time? Hopefully these bags under my eyes will subside for the wedding. I pray that.

The weather for the big day is cloudy...but I've decided if it rains, that's ok. Because thank goodness our wedding and reception are right next to each other!

I'm starting to lose it. Either this wedding or everything else is wearing me down. It could be this constant ache in my neck that's been there for the past week. it hurts worse everyday.
I had a breakdown in my car last night and just cried, I had too. I feel like everythings building up on me and I don't know how to take it. There's 120 different emotions running through my body.
I'm starting to worry about the little things, will I enough time to do them? will people do it? can people do it?
I hate it.

I just want to be with matt. and Florida. That will help out ALOT

My photo 'to edit' is finally full. Finally some work on my hands! I'll be busy this week working on that, packing, and getting ready for the big day, meanwhile, starting to watch another show.
I am just an entertainment freak.
I heard about the new HBO series Trueblood and heard it was about vampires, so I was immediately interested. I'm sure we all know how big of a scaredy cat I am about, well, everything but boy do I love me some vamps.
Maybe because I love Buffy? or Angel? or Twilight? Needless to say, I'm sure this show will give me just what I'm looking for. Excited to Watch???? Yes!

Things I've learned about shooting children.
I've learned that I hate posed shots. Why? because you can can there posed, i love natural. I love real. I love seeing kids in their true element, in their true smile, it's amazing.

it seems the only kids I end up shooting are Matt's best friend Chad's children. he has 3 beautiful children. let me introduce them to you by showing super cool photos I took of them!

The oldest...Ethan. I love shooting Ethan because he is a constant surprise. He is a child who keeps me guessing. I try guessing what emotion he'll show next when I'm taking photos but he suprises me every time and I love that. He's got a beautiful smile and acts just like his father.

Next is Eliana Rae, what a pretty name right? Ellie is a princess, and she knows it. I love shooting her because she loves the camera. She tells me she wants to be just like me and be a photographer when she grows up :-) or maybe she tells everyone else she wants their profession to, lol. She's got the prettiest smile I've ever seen and she knows exactly what I want when I pull my camera out!

And the newest..Aidan.
He is a cutie, and he no surprise, loves to smile! Every time he sees a camera, he automacilly smiles, it's adorable.

It turns out....I'm not supposed to be in this reading class. Go figure, something I knew all along.
My test results came back from my vocabulary and reading comprehension test. My Vocab is a 14.6 which means It's in the 14th grade, 6th month. Right on track, I am a sophomore in college
and my reading is a 15.5, so that's 15th grade
My professor pulled me aside and said the add/drop date has already passed so i can't drop the class so I just have to stick it out and get an A. I guess I could live with that.
Moving in is happening in 3 days! I have a lot left to pack but it will all work out...I hope lol

Is the wedding almost here?, yes!
Am I actually almost done with planning and etc? yes!

Some stress trickles off my back, but only some. I still feel like I have a trillion billion things to do! And I really can't take off from work or school, so I will crunch it all in, somehow!

My good friend Daniel took some portrait work of me for his studio lighting class. It felt nice being in front of the camera, rather than behind it! lol, see them on my myspace.
Speaking of pictures, I've taken some recently. Shocking! I know, but alas, so much to do, so little time to do it, I'm sure when October is over, things will settle tremendously :-)

I groan as I walk into another class of Reading Improvement. How I got into this class only God knows. I guess my testing abilities were way down that day. For all of you that don't know me, I am HUGE reader, I read at least 2 books a month so to end up in this class is a shock for me.
I groaned again when the teacher said get in groups and concoct another list of attributes of a college student, I groaned when he took 30 minutes going over the course outline and again when I filled out a reading survey.
I feel like a 5th grader almost, but I love reading and I love A's. Therefore I will suck all of this groaning up and coast through and receive my A.

I took a trip to

last night to look around, LOVE their stuff, a little to pricy for me though! I am on a super super low budget when it comes to, well, everything.
so everyone, buy me a kohl's giftcard! ha

I went to Walmart next, where the prices are right up my ally. I found two little wall art things for four bucks each for my kitchen!
stoked? heck yes.

They were cute little coffee art, which is the theme of my kitchen, i'll post pics later, but at bed,bath and beyond is it way more expensive to get those coffee art

total money saved last night from going to walmart instead of bb and beyond

Autumn

Summer time is ending, the leaves on the trees are already starting to fall off, autumn is well on it's way here! I adore going to class in the fall, something about it. Speaking of class, I am in a reading improvement class. I don't know HOW I ended up in there. I love to read, read well, and everyone in my class hates reading. But that's ok! Easy A, I keep telling myself.
I wish I would have a photo update, I've been slacking, I've had 0 time to take pictures, we'll be moving in 3 weeks and I have so much to do!
Soon though, my camera will be all over the place! promises for a million miles on that one!

insomnia

Worldwind day, and it hasn't even ended yet.
Today, while at work, I learned I received the Chickfila scholarship. surprise, Surprise!
I wasn't expecting to get it, so I went to TCC and signed up for a night course. blah.
but that's ok, I'm just glad I'll be in school. I love school.
Now all I have to do is juggle work, school, planning this wedding and moving out.

Hello insomnia!, I'm sure you and me will be best friends soon enough.

I must say my photography world has been dull.
I haven't had time because planning this wedding is...well, insane.
In just 57 days it will all be over, and then this girl will hopefully be a blogging fiend and blog everyday, well I hope.
Maybe I will not only turn this into a photography blog, but a blog for my everyday stuff, of course it may be mundane stuff, but, hey who wouldn't want to read that?

Here are a few images I've been working on.
The first one is probably my favorite, it will be for awhile.
It's very raw to me, Like I caught the singer in the middle of the bridge, out of breathe and
more nervous about the song each second.
The second on was taken awhile ago, in my PhotoI class. I liked it then, I love it now.
The joy I get rooting through my old photos and revamping the ones I like. it does WONDERS.
the third one was also an old file, who says there's nothing photoshop can't fix??

Matt and I had a hard time with apartment and etc, we got it all worked out and what not, and voila???? why we have a two bedroom apartment now! whoo, twice the space, and finally I will have my desk all to myself and Matt will have his to himself (we've been having to share) anyway

Ok there's this thing......

The fact.
The fact that I am a complete huge, vastly, a complete dreamer.
I want so many things for my life, so myself.
My dreams are....endless.
I feel like some of them will never even become close.
But, I've made a decision to try and follow them with all my heart.
So maybe one day
I'll be a famous

I know there are people out there who just think taking a photo is simple. sure, it is. But if you want that photo to be absolutely astonishing, there is a lot of work that goes on behind it. This, my friends is where the wonderful Photoshop comes in. Photoshop is like a photographer's heaven. The majority of the professionals use it and sware by it. I'm no professional but Photoshop, well without photoshop my photos would be rathing boring. That being said, I am going to show you some before and after photos.

Yesterday I went to sign papers for Matt's and I APARTMENT! yay, finally growing up and getting things situated! The floor plan looks like this, only one bedroom, but that's all we really need.

other than planning the wedding, working, and going to school, I've been editing my butt off.

I was just shooting in my backyard yesterday and on top of my shed, there is just a bounty of these black berries. they looked nasty to step in but great to photograph!

Ok so I had to make a collage, montage...whatever you want to call it for my sequencing class and I am absolutely in love with this particular one I made
I love the texture I put behind it as well as the little poem which *cough cough* I wrote myself.

Summertime, Summertime

My summer usually consists of the beach, working hard, playing hard, and of course movies.
I've already seen a lot of movies this summer, but only a couple have truly blown me away.

Iron Man was pretty good, it was a little long to me but overall enjoyable.
The New Narnia movie delivered, I loved it.
Indiana Jones was good as well.
The Hulk has been my favorite 'superhero' movie of all time. That may sound weird because of Spiderman and Superman and all those other amazing marvel movies. I liked the Hulk so much it was funny as well as gritty for me. The actors were well chosen, but maybe I just love Liv Tyler to much :-) Edward Norton, he's an amazing actor to me as well. The Hulk kept me interested the whole way through, I don't think I checked my watch once, which is very rare. It's def. one of my favorites.
I saw Get Smart last night, the reviews for it aren't that great, but I loved it. It has been the only movie in the past two years to make me truly laugh. I rarely laugh a real laugh while watching movies, rarely. But Get Smart was witty, funny and I loved it

I'm seeing alot more movies this summer so stay tuned on my 'rating' system, lol

Mind over body.

Today I met face to face with my online pilates class. The online yoga class was there also. I was nervous about getting to the whole working out in front of everyone, but as soon as he hit the lights and showed us the first exercise, I was hooked.
The pilates exercises made my stomach burn and the yoga was so relaxing. I've done yoga before at home and I never fully put myself into it, but when I put myself into today in class it felt amazing.
I never thought I would be a person who meditates, but after today, I want to do it every morning. Because when I left class today after the meditation and relaxation, it set me in a good mood all day. I felt at peace, calm and more relaxed and I love that feeling
So to all you none yoga believers out there who thinks it is gay, it's not. It's pretty awesome.

I've been thinking lately where is my future going? I think about this everyday, am I just a pessimistic, or am I just simply concerned?
I don't want to work at Chickfila for much longer, sure I love my coworkers and the pay is eh... I hate it. I come home smelling,feeling,looking nasty and I am constantly worried about work when I am not there.
it stresses me out, i want a job where I go at my own pace and def. not something related to food at all!
if anyone knows of any openings please let me know!

chairs and what not?

So I just started the summer semester, today was my first class.
it is called Communicating through Photographic Sequence.
woah, long title, right?
Teach said today we have to pick one subject and that will be our subject we shoot every shooting, every frame and what not
ugh!
Me shooting a constant thing? not probable! just kidding!
so as soon as he said this one immediate thought came into my mind.... a chair.
not just a wooden chair, well maybe, I'm thinking of a comfy but not a recliner, I want it to look like it's been through alot of families, yeah, my vision is weird.
But anyway, so this chair is in every frame, and I want different people to be near the chair, sit on it, what not and display different emotions in every frame.
for example, one frame would be a couple just getting married, happy, blissful and the frame after that would show the same couple (maybe?!) going through a divorce, bitter and etc.
same with birth/death. joyful/sorrow.
rich/poor

what do you think?

I am so excited to start and hopefully it will turn out ok!

Spring has arrived

Well the semester is wrapped up and another semester will begin soon much to my dismay, yes I signed up for summer classes. I shouldn't have, but would I be me without a little bit of stress?
I got an A in photography- defiantly exciting!
And another A and two B's for my final grades.
It's good to know that I'm a little bit smart, if that makes sense at all. :-)

I wish I could say I'm getting a ton of photography jobs as of late, but alas I am not. I am still a student that is learning, right? I hope business will boom this summer, we will see.
I'm praying that someone looks at my work and says 'theres our photographer, right there'
But I am always doubting, I have a lot to learn, but I just want my images to be AMAZING!
you know how it is, right? I've come to learn I am a huge! fan of super saturated images, ones that just pop ie- Lauren Clark. Look at her work, thats what I want.

I mean more environmental earth friendly.
Because I care about the earth
plus I love the nature! why not help preserve it!!
this means (keep me on my toes about all this stuff)

buying earth friendly products

conserving food
not drinking so much bottled water
starting a garden soon to grow my own veggies and etc

When I walked into drawing I today I just thought he would give us something to draw and then help us out, what I wasn't expecting was our first ever critique! We all had to hang our drawings up in a white room and he analyzed them. Thank goodness my teacher is a nice guy though so my drawing was decent!

The Holidays are here! The colors are out, the food is yummy and malls are packed (literally)
I know because I work in one. oi, the distress of it as well. I haven't had time for any christmas shoots or any shoots for that matter! But never the less I will update with new stuff (sometime in the near maybe far future) I hope all of your shopping is done!

Musings

Two nights ago I saw my fiance's band, Arcadian Flashback play at a Local Coffee Shop. I got several pictures and videos of them. They should be up soon. To the left, is another Local artist that performed at the coffee house, Author Ross. I sneaked a few shots of him while he went outside to practice.
That day I also shot a 25th wedding annv. It was beautiful as well as touching.
